Rooted in the Earth, we grow together, nurturing both the soil and the soul of our community. - Yasmin Dawson

LegacyWorks, in collaboration with our esteemed partners, is dedicated to realizing the Resilience Garden in Lompoc, which aims to combat food inequity in under-resourced communities. What started as an inspiring vision of Yasmin Dawson, Executive Director of Collective Cultures Creating Change-Lompoc (C4-Lompoc), has now expanded with two additional committed partners, Santa Barbara Bucket Brigade and Santa Barbara Botanical Garden, working passionately in collaboration to enhance food security and community resilience through a community garden project at Lompoc’s First Christian Church.

Our mission is to empower and support community leaders, providing the necessary resources and expertise to turn dreams into reality. Through these strategic partnerships, we are fostering a vibrant and sustainable community where everyone can access affordable, fresh produce and connect with nature.

The Resilience Garden's journey began with funding made available to LegacyWorks by Lockheed Martin. Denise Knapp of the Botanical Garden designed vibrant native plant beds to make Yasmin’s dream a reality. Abe Powell of the Bucket Brigade led a team of community volunteers who installed the garden, marking a remarkable collaboration embodying the spirit of community and resilience on a sunny Saturday.

Additional funding has been secured from the State of California for C4-Lompoc to build and plant raised beds for produce, install irrigation systems, implement programming on home-gardening and conduct leadership training for Lompoc youth via the Bucket Brigade Academy.

We are proud to work alongside our partners to bring this vision to life. The dedication of Yasmin and the team at C4-Lompoc, the invaluable support from the Santa Barbara Bucket Brigade, and the botanical wisdom of the Santa Barbara Botanical Garden have all played a pivotal role in making the Resilience Garden a reality.

LegacyWorks envisions communities working together so ecosystems, economies and societies thrive.

At LegacyWorks, we are committed to building thriving communities by fostering connectedness, trust, and capacity for positive change. Through strategic planning, administrative support, and fundraising efforts, we are honored to play a part in creating a brighter, more resilient future for the Lompoc community.

I’d  like to express my heartfelt appreciation for the incredible partnership we’ve built together. Your collaboration, dedication, and shared vision have been key to our collective success, and I’m genuinely grateful for the trust and commitment you’ve shown. Thank you for being such an exceptional partner.
